Multinational feed additives producer NUTRIAD, participated in the recently concluded 26th National Hog Convention & Trade Exhibits jointly organized by the Pork Producers Federation of the Philippines (ProPork) and the National Federation of Hog Farmers, Inc. (NFHFI). The 3-day event gathered experts, commercial and backyard producers and academics from across the Philippines and provided a platform for sharing the most recent practices and technology in hog raising.
Dr. Glenn Alfred Ferriol, Nutriad Manager for Philippines, Indonesia & Malaysia, presented a paper on “The Effect of Stimulating Appetite and Feed Intake on the Performance of Highly Prolific Sows During the Lactation in Tropical Hot Climates.” During his presentation Dr. Ferriol shared the most recent update on the application of KRAVE® AP, the appetite stimulant for lactating sows and explained how this product can be used as a tool to help the breeders cope up with the challenges of feed intake, especially in hot climates like the Philippines.
The swine industry in the Philippines accounts for about 80% of the total livestock production. Although the stock in commercial farms is growing faster than in back yard farms, most swine in the Philippines is still being produced via back yard farming. Visitors of the convention showed great interest in novel ways to increase feeding efficiency; improve health without antibiotics and farm management in general.
The Hog Convention provided a good opportunity for NUTRIAD to show its commitment in the Philippine Hog Industry by launching its programs for swine, that are now registered in the Philippines through its distributor ENOVET INC. The portfolio includes the gut health range, including alternatives for Antibiotic Growth Promoters (AGP): ADIMIX®PRECISION; ADIMIX®EASY; & APEX 5.; palatability products to help nutrition happen: KRAVE®AP; OPTISWEET®SD; MAXAROME®; PIGLET PLUS and the complete practical approach to Mycotoxin Risk Management: TOXY-NIL®; TOXY-NIL®PLUS and UNIKE®. Finally, Nutriad experts introduced the internationally acclaimed MYCOMAN® application, allowing transparent recommendations to producers following an assessment of contamination levels.
