Nutriad was a proud sponsor of the second edition of Aquafarm, an international exhibition and conference for aquaculture, algaculture, vertical farming and fishing industry that took place in February in Pordenone, Italy. The conference counted with the presence of all mayor aquaculture producers and related industries in the Mediterranean. Not only did multinational feed additives producer Nutriad support the conference with a sponsorship, it also hosted two presentations and engaged directly with professionals and academics present.
“We are very pleased to support this important Italian aquaculture event. Being close to our customers and interacting with leading experts in key aquaculture markets is part of our strategy as we are increasing our footprint in the industry,” says Peter Coutteau, Business Unit Director Aquaculture for Nutriad.
At the conference, Maria Mercè Isern-Subich, Business Development Manager Aquaculture Health, gave two presentations on the results of the latest research on Nutriad’s functional feed additives for typical Mediterranean aquaculture health challenges and species.
“The demonstration of the effect of the functional feed additive in the prevention of parasitosis development and effects of Enteromyxum leei in gilthead seabream (Sparus aurata) in a lab challenge confirmed the observations done by farmers under practical farm conditions”, says Maria Mercè. “Furthermore, we presented the effects of the functional feed additive during the cold season in both Mediterranean seabass (Dicentrarchus labrax) and Mediterranean seabream (Sparus aurata), showing the improvement of gut microbiota diversity and histological scores. Finally, the occurrence of a non-expected outbreak in seabass showed the capacity of our products to help the fish coping with gill parasites outbreaks. “
